This was fun to read! Glad you still have the piece. We have a lot of old heirloom items from our great aunties and great grandparents. It's very cool when an item has a great back story to go with it.

Do you still have it? Anyway, I love how our ancestors repurposed items and cherished old things....had furniture reupholstered or repainted, used old clothes to make aprons and quilts, etc.

I've noticed that some practices back then are coming around again: getting food delivered, using brown bags, saving jars for storage, and buying used things instead of new. I marvel at your ability to recreate the past.

wow, that is so cool. i don't have any furniture from my gram or mother, but Gram gave me her engagement ring for hs graduation and my mother left me quite a lot of nice rings and other jewelry. the cabinet story was so interesting. TY
